Science Fair Reflection

Date: BLOG POST WEEK 3

My Writing: Science Fair Reflection

In Te Ngahere We are doing this thing called a science fair in a group of 3 my group is Cahaly and Alexander. Our experiment is to see what liquid would make a screw rust the fastest. We learnt that salt water will rust a nail faster than, water and soda water. We also learnt to keep our nail away from salt water We also learnt about time management I also learnt how to write a method and I learnt what a controlled variable a dependent variable is and a independent variable is . What my group found difficult was we didn't no know whos house to do the experiment at and we had difficulties doing our variables because we didn’t know what the variables meant. What we would do differently next time is do it at school so we would not forgot to take photos of the cups. We would also make them into glass cups so light could go into the cups so the photos would not be so dark and blurry, last we would use a phone so the photos we will be clear and not all wiggly and blurry. Me and my group in the end had to use Tu Maia because we were in the pit and we were scared to ask a teacher to print it again because whaea becks said we had to pay her next time so we used Tu Maia and asked if they could print our slides again.

Have you ever finished a science project?

Mosaic Art

In Te Ngahere the class did Mosaic art our teacher was Gail and  she showed the class how to do it. It's when we go on to Google drawings we put a picture on and trace it with poly-line and we have left  a gap between each of them. We did them for our QR codes for our Ngahere  animal or plant we were researching about. think what I did well was the shape of its face. What I could do better is put a background and add more shapes. I think it was hard at the start to get all the shapes right.

Have you ever made Mosaic art before?

After we got to have our lunch. Then we built some rat traps and we went for a walk and we saw two cute dogs that we got to pat. And we went back on the fairy and on the way back saw dolphins.

It was like what happens on social media but in real life this guy was copying this girls photos and he said he was thirteen but he was an adult. We had to do a D.L.O about three main points that happened in the video and we had a group mine was Hudson and Jayden.t. For our D.L.O we did a short animation it was about this guy who was lying about who he was.

Are you cautious about people on social media?

What We Did For The Soccer Rotation

Yesterday my house group we did soccer for the P.E rotations. What we did first was we put out six cones in three rows. We ran at one then back another and did that for all the cones the we did this thing when whaea penny said down we had to do a roly poly. After we went 20 meters away from each other and we formed a circle and we had to pass to each other. Then we put intasepters so it was harder for everyone to pass. Are you good at Soccer?

P.E Rotation

We did this thing called rotation  its when when you change your sport every Monday and Thursday the sports are touch soccer netball and skills. First I did skills then I did netball then going to do touch and soccer. I found doing skills very easy but I did not like doing netball. I’m looking forward to doing touch. I found hard in netball was passing and catching. Do you like touch or rugby or any sport I just said?

The Fish Drawing

In Te Ngahere we had to draw some fish on google drawings. It was fun because we go to do it for the first time. I had Drawn a cat and I named it galaxy. I enjoyed doing this because I like drawing animals and I have two cats that are bermes. We watched a video how to use google drawings. We were learning how to use the tools on the google drawing we were also learning how to share our learning. I think it was hard learning what every button does. I think I did very well of doing a cat. Next time I can do a better drawing next time. Have you ever done google drawing?

The Epro8 Challenge

In Te Ngahere we did a EPro8. What we did for this is build a catapult and we got a ping pong ball, string,Electrical tape, two a4 pieces of paper, one a3 piece of paper,scissors,30 bamboo sticks and 30 rubber bands. Then we had to put all of them together to make a catapult and when you fired the ping pong ball it had to go three metres.  We learned about potential energy and kinetic energy. Potential energy is when something is not moving and it's still and kinetic energy is when something that is moving. I found communicating with my group was hard and everybody wouldn't listen to my idea and everybody was doing there own thing. I think my group did well is starting to listen to each others idea. I did like making catapults I hope we do it again. I think we could work on everybody gets a job no one is sitting around doing nothing and communicating with each other. Have you ever made a catapult?

The Confusing Taskmaster

In Te Ngahere we did a taskmaster called can you follow directions. Our teacher gave us a piece of paper and then we had to get a pencil. We got 4 minutes then another 30 seconds after we got an extra couple of minutes. For the  first  question we had to read everything carefully before doing anything it confused me because I thought it meant read one question before doing anything. I did not know it meant to read the whole all of it. We did this because the teachers were trying to teach us to follow directions and to read things carefully. Everyone failed at this because  we actually had to read every question before doing anything. I think I did read the question carefully I got it wrong because I did not understand. In the future I will read things more carefully.Do you read questions carefully?

Maths

This week I Will be explaining equal addition. I think the strategy is good for me because I can get to even numbers by adding. I think this strategy is the best for me because i can solve questions easier. We have been doing math questions and i have been using equal addition on them. The challenge for mine was the big numbers to add them. What's your favorite  strategy?

Te Reo Planning

In Te Ngahere we did a screencastify that included the Maori alphabet,  Maori place names and greetings. We had to embed it on to  some slides I did not know how to embed so I got some help. It took me a long time to do it because I could not pronounce the words properly and  also now know how to screencastify. I think I did well while doing the alphabet.  Do you know how to screencastify or embed?

Tidy Drive

In Te Ngahere we have been doing this thing called tidy drive. Its when we have to tidy the drives by putting them in  different folders and making folders up. I didn't have to do much because this is my first year at paihia school. We watched a video and it told us how to clean up drives i finished my one. Did you have to clean your drive?

Taskmaster

In Te Ngahere we have been doing this thing called Taskmaster. We have to do challenges the closest to the right answer or activities wins. The last time we did it we did a drawing activity  there was two runners and one drawer. The one of the two runners walked outside and there was a picture on the window and we had to tell the drawer what to draw and where to draw it. It was hard because we were not allowed to touch the paper. The challenge for my group was communicating  and not touching the paper. I think we got a lot done and it looked like the teachers one. What didn't work well was me and the other runner wanted to go out to the picture. Would you do it?

Mind blowing things about kawa of care

In the past weeks we have been  learning about kawa of care because you need to know it  to take your chromebook home. If you don't  learn the kawa of care  and you break your chromebook you will not get insurance. We had to do a animation and include something about kawa of care and how they did not follow it and they paid the consequence of not getting insurance.

Roy Lichtenstein is famous for his ben day dot technique. Roy Lichtenstein was often accused for copying comics. Roy Lichtenstein is also famous for his bright bold colours.

Amazing Things About The Ecosystem

In Te Ngahere this week we have been learning about the ecosystem and how it works. We had to complete some work on the ecosystem and make a drawing of a  cycle of an ecosystem. We also had to make an ecosystem drawing that I enjoyed.

I learnt that if something from the ecosystem went it would not work and everything will die.

I could do more work on it  and write longer sentences  and add more punctuation. I think I have done very good with my ecosystem.

Did you like the things i told you.
